BSNL Launches 3G Services in India

After MTNL, BSNL has also launched it’s 3G mobile services in India recently. BSNL has become the second mobile phone service provider in the country to offer 3G services to it’s customers.
While MTNL is mainly present in the metros, BSNL is present in each and every other state including the rural sector. By launching it’s services much earlier than private operators and taking an advantage of the current mess in which 3G auctions are lying, the state owned enterprises are aiming for the larger slice of the 3G market in the country.

Customers purchasing 3G Data card from BSNL and activating the same will get free data usage of 6 GB per month as 1GB day/any time and 5GB night usage for two months from the date of activation as a promotional offer until further order. However, for getting validity the customer has to recharge with data recharge voucher or fixed monthly charges in case of postpaid connection. The free usage of 6 GB will be added to the free usage available with the data plan. No other freebies may be allowed for the above data cards.

• Incoming video call facility allowed to 2G customers with 3G enabled handsets will continue to be allowed until further order.

NTT DoCoMo – 4G Mobile Develops Solar-powered Handset

NTT DOCOMO, INC. announced today its development of the SOLAR HYBRID (docomo STYLE series™ SH-08A), a solar-powered, waterproof mobile phone that will go on sale at all DOCOMO sales channels in Japan from September.

The SOLAR HYBRID can be recharged with sunlight as well as electricity. Even if the battery has completely lost its charge, just 10 minutes of solar recharging via a panel on the phone's body provides approximately one minute of talk time.

The handset comes with an 8-megapixel CCD camera that takes excellent photographs even dim lighting or when objects are moving.

The SOLAR HYBRID's waterproof body, resistant to water sprays from all directions and submergible to depths up to one meter (IPX5*/IPX7**), enables safe, carefree enjoyment of mobile communication and entertainment in the bath, kitchen, beach, rain or other environments where water is present.

The SOLAR HYBRID will be exhibited at the DOCOMO booth at Wireless Japan 2009, which will take place at Tokyo Big Sight from July 22 to 24.

For all of you waiting for mobile data networks to catch up to broadband speeds on cable and DSL, the first 4G/LTE network has arrived . . . in Sweden (and Norway too). The Scandinavians get everything first when it comes to mobile, except the iPhone

TeliaSonera launched the first two cities of its 4G network, which promises wireless download speeds of up to 100 megabits per second(yeah, right) using

equipment from Ericsson and Huawei.

So if you live in Oslo or Stockholm, you get to try it out. Everyone else is out of luck. TeliaSonera says it will roll out the 4G service to 25 cities in Sweden and Norway in 2010. But you know how these things go. The full rollout may take longer because they are still trying to follow the instructions on how to put it together. They are pretty sure they are missing some bolts. (We’ve all been there).

For the rest of us, the wait will be even longer. Mobile carriers in the U.S. are struggling under the weight of soaring Web phone data usage. Their 3G networks can hardly keep up

(cough, AT&T). Verizon is supposed to launch 4G/LTE service in the U.S. next year, and AT&T won’t offer its version of 4G until 2011.

Nokia 5230 is the recent release from the Nokia. The handset offers wide variety of functionality with touch screen and internet connectivity. The phone is very economical and comes with a price tag of Rs.8500 in India.

As far as looks are concerned, the phone is available in two colors black and white. The white color considered as an impressive color variant. The Unlocked Nexus One is priced at $529 (Rs.24860, dead cheap man) that is compatible with almost any sim card. But presently the 3G frequency provided AT&T and Rogers aren’t supported by NexusOne. You’ll get a NexusOne case, a wall charger and a USB Cable along with the phone in the pack.
