Google Phone ‘Nexus One’ is here finally

23 January 2010

Depending on your location, you may or may not get the link to buy the Nexus One, like if you are visiting the link from  India you’ll get a message saying that ‘Nexus One is not available in your country’.

Pricing of Nexus One

The Unlocked Nexus One is priced at $529 (Rs.24860, dead cheap man) that is compatible with almost any sim card. But presently the 3G frequency provided AT&T and Rogers aren’t supported by NexusOne. You’ll get a NexusOne case, a wall charger and a USB Cable along with the phone in the pack.
If you consider buying it with T-Mobile, the price becomes $179, with a new 2 year service agreement.
Vodafone and Verizon will bring the Nexus One in Spring 2010.

Technical Specifications

It’s a 3.7inch AMOLED Touch Screen with 1ms response and 100000:1 contrast ratio.

The camera is powered by a 5 mp lens with Autofocus and 2X digital zoom.
Videos can be captured at 20frames per second at 720×480 pixels.

WiFi (802.11b/g/n)
A2DP Stereo Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
HSDPA 7.2mbps

Memory

512mb flash, with another 512mb of RAM. The external memory given is 4gb which expandable up to 32gb.

Battery capacity

Removable 1400Mah Battery with a 2G talktime of 10hrs and 7hrs on 3G network.
Standby time of up to 290hrs on 2G and 250 hrs on 3G
5hrs of Internet browsing on 3G and 6.5hrs using a wifi network.
7hrs of video playback and 20 hrs of audio playback.

OS and Processor

Nexus One is powered by Android Mobile Tech platform 2.1 with Qualcomm QSD 8250 1GHz processor.
Nexus One has Assisted GPS receiver, cell tower and wifi positioning, digital compass and accelerometer.
While iPhone has a single Home button on the front site, Nexus One has a trackball (that can be clicked too) which may come handy while using Maps.
The Home, back, Menu and Search keys are provided at the bottom as a capacitive touch screen buttons.
As far as I’m concerned, it beats the iPhone all ends up, camera, touch screen and most of all the ‘price’. The only thing I have to do now is wait till it arrives in India and get one immediately.
