Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 smartphone is the first of the Xperia series by the company. Sony Ericsson mobile phones are known for their stylish convergence of entertainment and functionality. Xperia takes to a new level. This phone runs Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional as OS and also has support for Java Virtual Machine, thus making it truly open to new games and other applications written for J2ME platform. This is basically an arc slider phone with touchscreen functionality. Slide the screen up and keyboard emerges.

A 3 inch 16-bit color TFT touchscreen with 800x400 resolution forms the display. A 3.2 megapixel digital camera lets you record videos at 30 frames per second in VGA (640x480) quality. A second front camera lets you do video conferencing. Connectivity is provided with wireless LAN 802.11b/g and Bluetooth 2.1. This 158 grams device has 512 mb internal storage which can be expanded to 32 gigabytes using microSD cards.

With the Xperia series Sony Ericsson has made foray into the arena of Windows Mobile enabled phones which makes it more open to customization a feature that is very crucial so fat longevity of a brand is concerned. This phone is good on both functionality and entertainment fronts.
